"Let Peace Reign In Our Hearts," Pres. Weah Declares As He Lights Christmas Tree
Monrovia, Liberia - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah continues to plant seeds of peace amongst Liberians as the surest way of making Liberia an oasis of modernity and development.
And as Liberians gear up to celebrate this year's festive season, the time regarded as the birth of Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, President Weah urged Liberians to carry peace in their hearts for each other.
In brief remarks on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the grounds of the Temple of Justice, he expressed optimism that the lighting of the Tree will be meaningful to Liberians.
"Let this light from the Christmas tree shine in their hearts, open their sights, and that they will remain peaceful," the President emphasized.
After switching on the Christmas tree on the grounds of the Temple of Justice, the Liberian Chief Executive walked across the divide to the Executive Mansion and similarly switched on the most important Christmas tree there with the famous biblical quote: "Let there be light and there was light."
He was joined at the red-lettered occasion by the Chief Justice of Liberia, members of the diplomatic corps and array of government officials.
Lighting of the National Christmas Tree is a tradition performed by the President of Liberia to commence the celebration of the festive season.
