Monrovia, Liberia:His Excellency, President George Manneh Weah on Thursday, January 9, 2020 rolled into several communities across Monrovia in renewed efforts to see his Government’s road projects accelerated during the dry season.

Swarmed by elated local residents of every community visited, the President encouraged contractors and their employees to do their best in meeting deadlines so as to, in his words, “put smiles on the faces of our people yearning to graduate from bad road conditions and walk and drive on paved roads”.

He reiterated his unbending commitment to connecting communities in and around Monrovia and the entire country with paved roads during his tenure as President of the Republic.

Though there are other infrastructural challenges facing the country, President Weah said he would use his time in office to connect communities across the country so as to enable citizens commute anywhere and anytime of the year.

“I will use my time in office to build roads,” the President stressed, adding that any Liberian leader coming after him will be spared the headache of building roads and will be able therefore to focus on other well-meaning projects and initiatives.

Addressing dozens of citizens at a program in Nekley Town, Rehab Community in Paynesville, President Weah bragged of his government’s achievements in a relatively short period of time which, according to him, by far outclass and dwarf his predecessors’ combined period of service to the country and its people.

Amid the locals’ thunderous applauds and battle-cries of support, the President assured Nekley Town residents that they would have a paved road in five months.

The Liberian Leader used the time to thank the people of Liberia for the opportunity afforded him to serve them and contribute to the development of the country.

“You don’t have to thank me. You have elected me to serve you, to develop your community. That’s what I am trying to do,” the President asserted.

President Weah however told the throngs of enthusiastic Liberians who graced the red-lettered occasion to put peace at the front-burner of their undertakings, as it is only by the existence of peace the nation can embrace development and prosperity.

“We will not realize development and progress when we don’t have peace,” the President emphasized. “It would be impossible for the government to meet your needs amidst insecurity and chaos.”

The Liberian Leader also thanked officials of the Ministry of Public Works for demonstrating commitment to the enhancement of road connectivity program which is a key component of the government’s flagship development agenda, the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

In a special statement, citizens of Nekley Town Community thanked the Liberian President for his outstanding leadership and pledged to stand with him to accomplish his development objectives for the country.

President Weah’s first tour of ongoing road projects in the new year also took him to Soul Clinic in Paynesville, Voker Mission Community, and Gbengbar Town, VOA Community.

Thousands of residents in the communities came out of their abodes to welcome President Weah in appreciation of what they called his commitment to build paved roads for them.

Motorcyclists in the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville drove in jubilantly as President Weah’s convoy rolled through their community, while students and marketers cheered.
