STATEMENT IN REMEMBRANCE OF FALLEN CDCIANS ON NOVEMBER 7, 2011
As we observe the 7th Anniversary of the infamous November 7, 2011 incident that occurred at the Headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), President George Weah wishes to extend profound sympathy to families of partisans who lost their lives during the dreadful standoff with state security personnel.
The President calls on all partisans of the CDC to reflect on this day with hope and optimism, and observe it as a remarkable day in the party’s history that will forever be remembered, as those fallen partisans exhibited true spirit of heroism in defense of their democratic and institutional beliefs.
The President further acknowledges the sacrifices and heroism exhibited by those courageous partisans, and describes the experience as one that leaves an indelible mark in our hearts.
As we mourn their passing and reflect on their immense contributions to the struggle, let us remember that it was their bravery that gave us the fortitude to endure the perilous journey to attain state power. It will be remiss to observe this remarkable day in the history of our institution without acknowledging and reverencing their gallantry in our struggle for freedom and prosperity.
It is the fervent prayer of the President that God will continue to bless the Mighty CDC and May the souls of our fallen compatriots rest in peace.
Signed:
Hon. Sam Mannah
Presidential Press Secretary
