President Weah Makes Rounds to Project Areas with Message for Contractors and Residents

Monrovia, Liberia - In another display of good leadership, H. E. President George Manneh Weah Thursday, February 27, 2020 drove to several communities across Monrovia and its environs in continuation of his routine road inspection endeavors intended to keep contractors and engineers in check, monitor work progress and also to mobilize citizens’ cooperation with contractors.

As he has always done, President Weah used the time to hold tete-a-tete with contractors on progress and challenges they may face in a bid to motivate them step up the speed and momentum to be able to meet deadlines.

The tour, which began with the ongoing Gardnersville Freeway Project, also took the Liberian leader to the Red-light, Soul Clinic and the Moses Z. Blah communities’ road projects.

He later moved to the Pipeline, Johnsonville, Patience Shop Communities road projects.

Dozens of residents lined the main community roads to welcome the President and entourage and to express appreciation for Government’s tirelessly efforts in building roads, expand water and electricity and transform the nation’s age-old social service bottlenecks.

The citizens chanted, “Bad road medicine! Bad road medicine! Bad road medicine!” amongst other pro-government slogans.

Along the Somalia Drive, the President Weah did not only appreciate contractors during the tour, he also drew attention to the heaps of garbage, used plastic bags and other filths, that litter the road.

President Weah, who appeared somehow unsettled upon seeing particularly filths at the Somalia Drive Road Project, called on community residents, mainly marketers selling in the area, to ensure that the road is dirt-free.

“I want you people to take responsibility,” he told the locals. “Make sure that there is no dirt here. Maybe, you are not getting the message from others, but it is good I am giving it to you.”

“While it is true that we are working for you and you are supporting us, I ask you to keep the area clean.”

President Weah informed the residents that the government would take the necessary action if the situation was not taken care of by the marketers who are always accused of depositing filths in the open.

The Liberian Head of State was joined on the road inspection tour by officials of government, including senior staffers from the Ministry of Public Works led by Minister Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel Farlo McGill, and many others.
