President George Manneh Weah Wednesday, January 22, 2020, received Letters of Credence from five ambassadors accredited to Monrovia by their various heads of state and governments. 

 

Those who presented letters to the Liberian Leader include Ahmed EL-Sayed Helal of Egypt, Gen.  Lee In-tae of the Republic of Korea with residence in Abuja, Nigeria and H. E. Idriss Isbayene of the Kingdom of Morrocco with residence in Conakry, Guinea.

 

Others were Mrs. Joanna Tarnawska of the Republic of Poland who resides in Abuja, Nigeria and H. E. Emmanuel Mpfayurera, Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi also residing Abuja, Nigeria.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, the Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed EL-Sayed Helal told President Weah that the government of Egypt was ready to invest in Liberia through several companies that would help improve the Liberian economy and support the Liberian government’s Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

 

Amb. EL-Sayed Helal recalled that the Government of Egypt has made available several capacity building opportunities for junior government officials and several scholarship opportunities for Liberian students to study in Egypt.

 

President Weah expressed appreciation for the high level of good diplomatic and bilateral relations that continue to exist between the people and government of Liberia and that of the government of Egypt, stressing that between the both countries diplomatic and bilateral relations has come a long way and is yielding those benefits in the best interest of both countries on the continent.

 

The Liberian Leader than accepted an invitation from the people and government of Egypt through Ambassador Ahmed EL-Sayed Helal to pay an official state visit to Egypt so as to further enhance the Liberia-Egypt relations.

 

H.E. Mr. Idriss Isbayene of Morocco said President Weah’s PAPD draws the line for development saying, “Morocco was ready to partner with Liberia in fostering Economic development and investments in Agriculture”.

 

“We will continue to support Liberia’s human capacity building and development through the provision of scholarships and other trainings. We will support and promote enhanced relations, socioeconomic development of Liberia as together we can achieve our shared goals”. He noted.

 

The Liberian Chief Executive, Dr. George Manneh Weah welcome and thank the Moroccan Envoy for coming to work in and with Liberians.

 

“Liberia remains grateful for Morocco’s support to our country human capacity building. We are ready to work with you in strengthening bilateral ties and cooperate in the spirit of true friends and solidarity for our countries and continent”, Dr. Weah told the Moroccan Diplomat.

 

 

The other ambassadors variously expressed their respective governments’ commitments to working with President Weah and the people of Liberia in strengthening bilateral relationships of their countries with the Republic of Liberia.

 

Specifically, Poland Ambassador Joanna Tarnawska expressed the hope that relations between Liberia and her country would flourish in the years ahead, stressing the need for increased bilateral commitments in the areas of Defense, Education, Maritime and Environmental Protection, mostly in the area of waste management.

 

For his part, the Ambassador of Burundi, Mr. Emmanuel Mpfayurera said it was a honor and privilege to be the first ambassador of Burundi to Liberia.

 

“I will work towards strengthening existing relationship since our independence,” he said, adding: “We will improve our relations and further collaborate in the areas of sports, technical and vocational education, economic and scientific.”

 

He said Burundi is now peaceful and heading to elections in May.

 

President Weah heartedly welcomed the ambassadors and assured them of Liberia’s commitment and preparedness to harness diplomatic relations with all countries and peoples towards ensuring a win-win and cordial ties.
