(Monrovia, Liberia):The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, says he is confident that his Government will succeed in improving the economy of the country and better the lives of the people.

Speaking to worshippers at the Georgia Panten United Methodist Church in Monrovia, on Sunday, September 15, 2019, Dr. Weah acknowledged the prevailing challenges that berserk the nation but said he remains hopeful of greater success during his leadership.

He called on Liberians to exercise restraint and patience as his government works to address challenges of the economy.

“it is not in the interest of our country for agitation against the government to be the norm of engagement,” the President told the worshipers. “Agitation and unpatriotic statements have the potential to discourage investors and worsen the woes we are faced with.”  

He urged Liberians to be peaceful and responsible in their actions, particularly in demanding the government to tackle current challenges.

President Weah said it is the right of Liberians to speak out, to demand their government to perform but indicated that it was unacceptable to insult leaders and threaten the peace of the country. 

"We don't need another war in the country, for we have had enough of it before," he warned, adding that his government was doing everything humanly possible to fix the economy.

Speaking briefly on recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue, including call for the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report, the Liberian Executive reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the recommendation.

“I have written the national legislature to advise and provide guidance on all necessary measures for the establishment of economic and war crime courts”, the Liberia Leader told the congregation.

He urged Liberians to always not wish for something they will regret later, stressing, “Peace and forgiveness is the best way forward.”
