“He’s an Inspiration of Generations,” President Weah Describes Statesman Wotorson at Book Launch

Monrovia, Liberia: His Excellency President George Manneh Weah on Thursday, October 31, 2019 paid special tribute to former Grand Kru County Senator, Cletus Segbe Wotorson, describing him as an inspiration to many generations in Liberia.

President Weah expressed heartwarming appreciation to Mr. Wotorson for the remarkable contributions made to Liberia’s socioeconomic and political development which he said constitutes significant lessons other Liberians, especially young people, will emulate in reshaping the future of the country.

The Liberian Leader made the comments when he launched “Acceptance—Boy from Pandarkor” written by Mr. Wotorson, former Senator of Grand Kru County and former Minister of Mines and Energy at the Monrovia City Hall.

President Weah said Mr. Wotorson’s invaluable contributions to Liberia’s progress which spanned decades will not go unnoticed by the people of Liberia.

“You have done very well; you have written a book that Liberians, especially the young people, will learn from,” the President said.

He recalled fond memories of interactions with Mr. Wotorson who he said witnessed the signing of his first contract for professional footballing when the octogenarian statesman was the Vice Chairman of the Liberia Football Association.

The President said the presence of Mr. Wotorson’s peers at the book launch shed light on how they value him and his selfless contributions to the motherland over the years.

President Weah intoned that the book, which chronicles the true story of Sen. Wotorson’s life journey, would serve as an encouragement to other Liberians to read, learn and be motivated to emulate his noble roles and contributions to Liberia.

The President said he was inspired by Wotorson’s achievement and expressed optimism toward giving consideration to also cataloguing his own story one day in response to demands from some Liberians who continue to ask why the President can’t write a book.

President Weah was joined at the Monrovia City Hall for the “book launch” by former Vice President of Liberia, Joseph N. Boakai, Economist Dr. Togba Nah-Tipoteh, former Finance Minister, Emmanuel Shaw, Bomi County Representative, Edwin Melvin Snowe, President Pro Tempore, Albert Chie and former Chief Justice of Liberia, Musu Gloria Scott just to name a few.
