(Gompa, Nimba County):President George Manneh Weah says as his administration clocks midway of his six-year tenure this year, he will keep the torch of development and progress accelerated and calls on all his appointed officials to double up on their outputs.

Speaking to citizens and residents of Ganta City, Nimba County, Monday, February 15, 2021, on the second leg of his first nationwide tour, the President said fulfilling his promises for national transformation is paramount and a moral duty he will neither delay nor compromise.

“Just as I have asked Cabinet Ministers to submit progress reports to my office, I am asking superintendents to do same,” the President stressed. “I will review performance reports of my appointed officials and I expect that anyone will do their very best to remain onboard.”

Responding to horde of requests presented to him, President Weah assured citizens of Nimba County of his support to realize their quests for development, promising to help with the construction of the Gompa City Hall.
 

He however pleaded with the citizens of the county to work with and channel their requests for development through their lawmakers who, he said, have the wherewithal to push development through the national budget.
 

Youth groups, chiefs and elders, marketers, religious community, county legislative caucus, and many others spoke at the town hall meeting with the President on his arrival to the county.
 

The citizens, among many other things, appealed for the construction of the Gompa City Hall, review of the Arcelor Mittal Agreement with the involvement of Community landowners, expansion or elevation of few public schools, scholarship opportunities for students of the county.
 

Throngs of residents lined the Bong-Nimba highway as the President and delegation cruised their way into Gompa City, making intermittent stoppages to personally interact with villagers.

The President is expected to visit Gbi-Doru District. He will be the first Liberian president to visit that part of the country which is unique in its demographic features, an intersect of four counties—Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Bong and River Cess.
