Pres. Weah's Christmas Message
CHRISTMAS MESSAGE BY
HIS EXCELLENCY DR. GEORGE MANNEH WEAH
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA
DECEMBER 24, 2020
MY FELLOW CITIZENS IN LIBERIA AND ABROAD,
FOREIGN RESIDENTS WITHIN OUR BORDERS;
FELLOW CHRISTIANS;
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
As Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during this festive season, let us all be mindful that Christmas is a time of joy and peace, and it is my hope and prayer that you will experience an abundance of both.
This year, the world is seeing a crisis of an unprecedented nature, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has sparked fear, frustration and anxiety all around, and has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. But the citizens and residents of Liberia have shown great resilience and patience in managing these challenges.
We are thankful to God, that He has spared Liberia from the extremes of Covid-19. Through His bountiful Grace and Mercy, we have been able to implement measures that have enabled us to contain the pandemic and minimize its negative effects on our people.
But despite the progress we have made, I admonish you not to let down your guard. Let us continue to remain vigilant and strictly abide by all of the measures and protocols intended to keep you and your families safe.
As we head into the Christmas period, it is a time for reflection on what we have experienced this year, and most importantly, it is a time to look to the future with hope and confidence for a better 2021.
However, even as we are called to celebrate the joy of the season, let us ensure we do so in a measured and careful manner. We are forever grateful that we made it this far in a turbulent year; so let us be hopeful of the great prospects that lie ahead.
On behalf of my wife, First Lady Madam Clar Marie Weah, the Government of Liberia, my entire family, and in my own name, I would like to wish each and every one of you a Joyous and Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
