President Weah Extols Liberia-France Relations as He Receives Letters of Credence from Amb. Roux
(Monrovia, Liberia):The President of Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, says France remains a key development partner of Liberia, acknowledging that relations subsisting between both countries continue to soar from strength to strength.
Recounting France’s immense contribution to Liberia since his ascendancy to the presidency of Liberia, Dr. Weah said, “President Emmanuel Macron has kept every promise made in terms of development and the promotion of cordial diplomatic relations with Liberia”.
The Liberian Leader made the assertion Monday, December 21, 2020 when he received Letters of Credence from the French Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Michael Roux.
Dr. Weah said he was grateful to President Macron and the people of France for making Liberia a priority country in terms of their international development policy known as Agence Francaise de Development.
The Liberian Chief Executive noted that the opening of the Agence Francaise de Development offices in Liberia is a key promise made and kept by the French President during his (President Weah’s) visit to France in 2018.
The French Development agency is expected to embark on several projects in various sectors, including education, health and entrepreneurship especially innovation in the agro-food sector.
President Weah noted that the resumption of Air France to Liberia is also significant, as it will ease and connect Liberia to France, Europe and the rest of the world.
“Let me assure you, Ambassador Roux, of the fullest support and cooperation of my government as you embark on your tour of duty, and wish you a successful mission in Liberia”, President maintained.
In brief remarks, Ambassador Roux extended the France’s President Greetings to Dr. Weah and the people of Liberia.
He commended the Liberian Leader for keeping and maintaining peace in Liberia something he termed “recipe for development”.
The Ambassador said France is going to work with Dr. Weah in achieving Liberia’s flagship development program, the Pro Poor Agenda for Peace and Development (PAPD).
