President Weah Receives Letter of Credence from EU's Ambassador

(Monrovia, Liberia):The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah said Liberia and the European Union (EU) have together built a long-term partnership of shared values upholding human rights, and tenets of democracy including good governance and rule of law.

 

The Liberian Leader also described EU as one of Liberia’s key developmental partners on Friday, October 16, 2020, when he received the letter of credence from the Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union, Mr. Laurent Delahousse.

 

Speaking further during the ceremony, President Weah said the European Union including other international partners have been and remain committed to the sustenance of peace and democracy in Liberia.

 

“The EU is one of our committed partners. Liberia still needs that commitment in every sector”, Dr. Weah noted. Continuing, President Weah called on the new EU Ambassador to witness and testify to the free, fair and transparent midterm elections of December 8, 2020.

 

The Liberian Chief Executive assured Ambassador Delahousse of his government’s fullest cooperation during his tenure in the country.  

 

Presenting his letter of credence, Mr. Laurent Delahousse said the EU will continue to support Liberia’s effort to consolidate democracy, peace and development.

 

He said the European Union desires the same vision President Weah wants for Liberia which includes peace, stability, and sustainable and inclusive development adding that the European Union are and will remain Liberia’s friend and partner.

 

The ceremony was attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Dee Maxwell Kemayah), Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism (Ledgerhood Rennie) and State without Portfolio (Trokon Kpui).
