Monrovia, Liberia: The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah Wednesday, August 19, 2020 signed the Book of Condolence for fallen Sinoe County Electoral District Two Representative Jay Nagbe Sloh.

Representative Sloh, who was elected to the National Legislature in 2017, died last June at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia following a brief illness.

Speaking to reporters at the signing ceremony, President Weah said it was regrettable that he had to go the Capitol Building again to pay homage to another lawmaker after he had performed a similar task on August 4, 2020 for the late Rep. Munah Pehlam Youngblood.

The President stressed that the late Representative Sloh was a dutiful and diligent character who worked for the good of his country.

“He was a statesman who will be missed," the Liberian Chief Executive said, adding: "The short time I knew and interacted with him, Hon. Sloh proved to be an honorable man."

President Weah recounted that the late Representative Sloh did his best for the well-being of the country and its people, not only as a lawmaker but also as a journalist during the country's dark days.

The President extended condolences to the family of the lawmaker for the irreplaceable loss, and also expressed hope that God would grant him eternal rest.

He reminded Liberians that death was an inevitable event, the will of God, and that every man has to go through it regardless of status.

President Weah signed the book of condolence along with other officials of Government, including House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, Senate Pro Tempore Albert Chie as well as a host of lawmakers.
