President Weah Pays Tribute to Muslims on Eve of Abraham Day

(Monrovia, Liberia): The President of Liberia, Dr. George Manneh Weah has paid tribute to Muslims across Liberia on the occasion marking the observance of Abraham Day, an important Islamic Holy Day around the world which celebrates the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son in submission to Allah's command. 

 

The holy day, which will be observed this Friday, July 31, 2020, is marked by prayers and cattle sacrifices reminiscent of the Prophet Abraham.

 

President Weah has urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for continued peace and stability, especially at a time when the country is battling the Coronavirus pandemic.

 

He said the administration is committed to ensuring that there is a conducive environment for all Liberians to peacefully co-exist and exercise their rights, including freedom of religion, as guaranteed by the constitution.

 

The Liberian Leader said  Muslims have played a pivotal role in the country's development over the years which is deserving of commendation.

 

Meanwhile, President Weah has instructed that Muslims who are part of the country's civil service are granted excuse from work this Friday as they observe the day's rituals.
