President Weah Takes Montserrado By Storm As He Climaxes County Tours

Monrovia, Liberia - His Excellency, President George Manneh Weah, Monday, August 15, 2022 kicked off his tour of Montserrado County, receiving a massive welcome from jubilant citizens in Districts 15, 16 and 17 where he held town hall meetings. Similarly on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, thousands of citizens welcomed the President and entourage in Districts 9, 8 and 7 (Matadi, G.W. Gibson and West Point respectively.

 
 
 
Today, August 17, 2022, the Liberian Chief Executive, will interact with citizens in Districts 5 and 10.
 
 
 
President Weah’s motorcade was swarmed by thousands of cheering residents of Logan Town, New Kru Town and Brewerville who lined the streets, defying intermittent downpours of rain to give him a rousing welcome.
 
 
 
In Logan Town, which was the first of three-district tours, President Weah once again demonstrated his people-centered leadership style by disembarking his vehicle and walking with jubilant citizens from the main intercession to the Seventh Day Adventist Church where the Town Hall Meeting was held.
 
 
 
The President used his interactions with the people to thank citizens for the opportunity afforded him and his team to lead the country in order to change its development trajectory after 175 years of existence as an independent nation.
 
 
 
President Weah updated citizens of the massive nationwide developments his government has been undertaking in keeping with his vision and the promises made to the Liberian people during his bid for the presidency in 2017.
 
 
 
Besides the unprecedented level of development the government achieved in four years, President Weah assured citizens of more development projects in the area of health, education, roads and other infrastructures across the nation.
 
 
 
The Liberian President said the health of the Liberian people remains a fundamental priority of the government which is why more hospitals are being built and many others under construction as part of efforts to reform the health sector.
 
 
 
He assured the nation of the construction of a hospital similar to the John F. Kennedy Hospital, the largest referral hospital in Monrovia to date.
 
 
 
President Weah, instructed Health Minister to ensure that the wish of the people of New Kru not to move Redemption Hospital to Caldwell is upheld by ensuring that the hospital under construction in Caldwell be referred to as Redemption Hospital B, while the old Redemption Hospital is referred to as Redemption Hospital A.
 
 
 
President Weah told citizens that he and the CDC government were not interested in the politics of condemnation which has become the habit of those in opposition, but rather to work in the supreme interest of the Country.
 
 
 
He called on Liberians to prioritize dialogue as the most significant conduit to finding solutions to problems affecting national cohesion as opposed to street protests, which he maintained do not yield results but spur destruction and setback.
 
 
 
At the same time, President Weah assured residents of the three Districts of his government support in realizing some of the development projects they requested.
 
 
 
At the different Town Hall Meetings, citizens presented a plethora of requests to the Liberian President for his intervention in addressing and mitigating challenges they are faced with.
 
 
 
Citizens of District 15 which comprises Logan Town and parts of Caldwell appealed for President Weah's intervention for the establishment of a Court in the District, an Administrative Hall, football field, playground and others.
 
 
 
Also in District 16, which is composed of the Borough of New Kru Town and St. Paul Bridge, the citizens appealed for the completion of Coastal Defense Project, elevation of the Junior High School in St. Paul Bridge to High School, the elevation of D. Twe High School elevated to Vocational Training Center, among others.
 
 
 
Citizens of District 17 which comprises Brewerville, Banjor, Artington, and other areas appealed to President Weah for several development interventions, including construction of a hospital and access to electricity..
 
 
 
Similar feats were requested in Matadi, G.W. Gibson and West point
 
 
 
President Weah’s visits to the Districts are part and climax of the tour of Montserrado County in continuation of the nationwide tour which began last year.
