(Monrovia, Liberia):  Amid loud wailings and weeping amongst mourners at the funeral of fallen Representative Munah Pelham-Youngblood held at the Rotunda of the Capitol Building, President George Manneh Weah paid his last respect to the deceased whom he invariably described as one of the most loyal and committed partisans of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) he ever interacted with.

The Montserrado District #9 lawmaker died July 8, 2020 in Accra, Ghana.

Wearing black militant outfit replete with regalia, including a beret on head as did most partisans of the ruling party, at the funeral on Thursday, August 7, the President said the CDC and Liberia at large have lost an enterprising and lovely stateswoman who inspired many and role modeled countless young Liberians, particularly women, to aspire for self-esteem and an amiable place in the Liberian body polity.

“As Chairman of the House Committee on Executive, I had close interactions with her on state matters and she proved upright, firm and respectful at all times," the Liberian Chief Executive reflected.

President Weah further recalled that the late Youngblood was not only one of the youngest lawmakers in the Legislature but was also a strong and active fighter for what was just and proper, a character the President said she demonstrated in her assignments both in and out of the National Legislature.

Facing the casket bearing the remains of the lawmaker, the mournful-looking President said in his Kru vernacular as the deceased was a Kru and spoke it fluently: “You are leaving us behind. This was not the plan we discussed, Munah. You know we had some novel plans to execute. However, go home and rest. Let God be with you. We will meet again."

Members of the National Legislature, as well as a swarm of officials of Government, family members and admirers graced the ceremony.
