Monrovia, Liberia:The President of the Republic, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, Tuesday December 24, 2019, donated assorted medical equipment and food supplies to the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital and the Redemption Hospital in Sinkor and the Borough of New Kru Town respectively.

President Weah also used his visit to the two major public referral hospitals to share Christmas gifts with patients. Most of them were babies’ mother.

Materials distributed by President Weah included tubs, buckets and other assorted materials.

President Weah, in a joyous mood, told the enthusiastic beneficiaries that he was pleased to put a bit of smile on the faces of needy persons during this Christmas Season.

“I want to say that we did not forget you,” the President told the patients. “As you know, Christmas is a time to share love and kindness with each other in commemoration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Knowing that you are unable to move around like others during this period, we decided to reach out to you with these few items”, President Weah said.

Besides sharing the essential items with the patients, the Liberian Leader also underwrote the medical bills of several babies’ mothers, relieving them of their financial obligations to the entities visited.

Turning over an assortment of medical equipment, President Weah assured JFK’s management of his government’s support to the upkeep of the medical facility.

He said: “Our partners gave us this medical equipment and we feel obligated to donate them to the hospital for the good of our people.”

“We know the work and the challenges most of our hospitals are faced with, and we are doing everything within our reach to help,” the President noted, adding: “We also brought food stuffs to help you feed the patients here.”

On behalf of the JFK management, Dr. Jerry Brown thanked President Weah for the gesture and assured him they would use the equipment for intended purpose.

“We will sort out the equipment for use and when we find out that we already have the same supplies in stock, we will, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, share with other hospitals that don’t have,” Dr. Brown told the President.

Dr. Brown, who described President Weah as ‘primary donor’ to the JFK, thanked him for always assisting the institution in critical times.

At the Redemption Hospital, President Weah informed the management to use the food stuffs presented to feed the patients and use the equipment to cater to patients’ health conditions.

The Redemption Hospital management thanked the President for the gesture and assured him that they would use the supplies for the purpose intended.
