Monrovia, Liberia: The President of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, says Africa possesses huge human and natural resources capable to standing up to and defeating crises of all proportions. He said the sooner African themselves poise to realize this reality the better it would be for its people and the continent.

President Weah made the assertion on Monday, 4 May2020 when he received an initial consignment of anti-COVID-19 herbs from the Madagascan President, Andry Nirina Rajoelina.

The Liberian Leader commended the president and people of Madagascar for taking the lead in finding both preventive and curable medicines/herbs for the novel coronavirus.

“We in Liberia are grateful for the initiative by our fellow Africans to develop and find cure for COVID-19,” President Weah said. “This goodwill gesture by President Rajoelina is timely, and we highly appreciate it as we race against time in finding lasting solution to this pandemic.”

Dr. Weah noted that Africa has rich biodiversity that can be maximized to find solution to any emergency and crisis threatening its people.

“Please convey our sincere thanks and appreciation to President Rajoelina and people of Madagascar for this goodwill gesture. We will use these medicines to prevent and cure those infected or affect by the virus”, Dr. Weah told a delegation of medical team that brought in the consignment.

The Madagascar-developed medicines sent to Liberia and other African countries prevent and cure COVID-19 virus.

As soon as Madagascar announced the use of medicinal plants to prevent and cure the novel virus, President Weah spoke to his counterpart and pleaded with him for assistance.

Arrival of the drugs in Liberia, health experts here say, is a great relief for the country and its people in the battle against COVID-19 ravaging lives and economies around the world.
