On Heels of Cabinet Retreat in Ganta, President Weah Leads Fundraising Rally for Local Church Children's Ministry Project.
Ganta, Nimba County - What was intended for a regular church service at the United Liberia Inland Church in Ganta turned into a major relief for the Church, particularly the Children's Ministry, when the President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, served as the lifter of special donations for the children's project.
The President and his appointed officials, who are meeting in Ganta, Nimba County this week to hold a retreat, had gone to the Church on Sunday, July 10, 2022, to join throngs of local worshippers to thank God for the safe arrival of the delegation and God’s continuous blessings on Liberia and its people.
Touched by an appeal for assistance to help the Church complete its Children's Ministry project, the naturally compassionate President Weah prodded Government officials in attendance to help contribute to the work of God.
“If you have something for Jesus, put it in there,” the President raised a familiar native tithe-and-offering collection refrain while officials of Government and other attendees joyously got on their feet, moved to the collection basket, and put in their cash support for the Children's project.
Besides the regular offering collected by the President, the Cabinet, led by Foreign Minister Kemeyam, pledged US$10,000, 1,000 bags of cement, and 500 pieces of steel rods.
The President extolled the people of Nimba for the wonderful reception accorded him and his entourage, and urged them to remain hospitable.
He also used the gathering of believers to emphasize the importance of peace in the country, without which he said development is impossible.
Thanking the people of Nimba for maintaining and sustaining peace, President Weah told the congregation that Government’s development successes depend on the existence of peace.
“Liberia will be 175 years in a few weeks,” the President said. “My government is just four years, but you can see the level of development realized so far." Concluded the Liberian leader.
