First Lady Rations Food Items to Needy Groups ahead of July 26

Monrovia, Liberia - First Lady Clar Marie Weah has stepped up distributing assorted food supplies, including rice and cartons of frozen chicken, to the less fortunate ahead of this year’s July 26, Independence Day celebrations.

The latest supplies putting smiles on the faces of indigent Liberians during the festive season particularly target 30 orphanages and other indigent groups in Montserrado, Grand Bassa and Bomi counties.

Already, 15 orphanages in Montserrado County have taken delivery of their supplies which are being distributed by the office of the First Lady.

Some of the first beneficiaries included the Children Rescue Center, My Brother’s Keeper, Suzie Guenter, Rock of Divine and Francis Gaskin Rescue Children Orphanages.

In receiving the food times, the target groups gratefully acknowledged the Liberian First Lady’s thoughtfulness in always catering to orphans and the elderly, and particularly during the festive season when they were nearly hopelessly wondering how and what they would eat during such an important National Day.

“Please convey to the Mother of our Nation, the First Lady, that we are very happy and grateful to her for thinking about us in this corner of the country,” said Alexander Clarke, a caretaker at the Children Rescue Center Orphanage.

“We note that her intervention often comes when it is most needed. We feel so joyful she has got us something to eat on July 26 and even beyond.”

Other caretakers and managers of underprivileged groups heaped praises on the First Lady, invoking God’s bountiful blessings upon her to continue to remain sensitive and responsive to the plights of the deprived segment of the Liberian population.
