“You Will Not Regret Having Me As Your President,” Pres. Weah Tells Liberians as he Dedicates Doe Community Road

Monrovia, Liberia: President George Manneh Weah has assured Liberians that they will never regret having him as their president. He said his government will continue to commit the country’s resources towards initiatives beneficial to the country and the people.

The President gave the assurance when he dedicated a 2.7-kilometer paved road in Samuel K. Doe Community on the Bushrod Island on Monday, December 24, 2018. The asphalt pavement project is one of several road projects embarked upon by Government consistent with the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development which places emphasis on critical social services to disadvantaged communities and people.

President Weah said his vision to put into action great ideas for the development of Liberia is not intended for a boast nor is it a mere stunt to impress anyone but rather a deliberate attempt to lift Liberians out of poverty and make the country a better place to live by all.

The President reiterated his government’s commitment to meeting the expectations of the Liberian people in the areas of road construction, good healthcare service delivery, education, transportations among others.

Sandwiched by his two sons, Timothy and Champ Weah, President Weah asserted that he would not be deterred by detractions from any quarter but would remain focused on his government’s development plan targeting poverty and underdevelopment and working towards the rise of Liberia to glorious heights.

Amidst cheers and celebrations from residents, President Weah said: “I understand the desire of the people; as such, I will never do anything that will disappoint them. I assure you that you will never regret my leadership in this country because my government will work for you. It’s because of you that we are here.”

He further assured Liberians that he would continue to use the country’s resources to develop and improve their living conditions.

The Liberian leader said his administration would never hold back anything that can be done to transform the lives of the common people of Liberia, create a viable middle class and conductive economic environment as articulated by Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.

The Liberian leader called on every Liberian to participate in promoting his vision as the government continues to work in promoting the good image of the country.

He added: “We ask our partners in the media to join us in promoting the positive image of Liberia and the government so that our people will know that this government is in their interest and ready to improve their living conditions.”

President Weah decried the spread of falsehood and misinformation by some Liberians whose apparent intent is to distract his government’s attention from realizing its national development goals.

“When I make any move, distractors will criticize, but I want to say that nothing will stop us from building more roads; nothing will stop us from doing the good things that are needed by our people,” the President further asserted. “Let them continue to criticize us, we will do the right thing for our people’s benefit.”

The dedication of the SKD Community 2.7 kilometer road coincided with the unveiling of a monument of the President built by veterans of Young Survivors Football Club in appreciation of his government’s contributions the two communities—Clara Town and Samuel Doe Community—where the President grew up and developed his early football skills.
