“Refrain from Acts of Sabotage,†Pres. Weah Advises Citizens
(Monrovia, Liberia) Monrovia, Liberia: His Excellency President George Manneh Weah wants Liberians to desist from acts of sabotage and hate against one another and work together for the good and development of the country.
President Weah said instead of Liberians undermining and sabotaging each other, they must work in concert to uplift their country for the good of all.
He said every citizen, and not the leader alone, has a duty and role to play in the advancement of the country.
Speaking in his childhood neighborhood of Gibraltar Friday, May 10, 2019 where he cut the ribbon to the community’s newly built asphalt road, the Liberian leader reminded Liberians to be mindful of the boomeranged effect of negative acts knowing that what one does to someone could eventually happen to him one way and the other.
President Weah asserted that those aspiring for leadership and at the same time working to undermine his administration must understand that the destructive things they do now could confront them were they to assume leadership positions in the future.
He said while it is his obligation to protect and defend the laws of the land, including ensuring that all Liberians’ rights to assemble peacefully is respected and protected, he also has the constitutional obligation to safeguard the peace and security of the state.
He said it is in the interest of sustainable peace and democracy for those seeking national leadership to observe the democratic process, wait until his six-year lawful tenure expires.
“I am President for all Liberians,” he said further. “I was elected president for six years. If you think I am not performing, wait for the next elections and decide at the polls.”
The Liberian leader called on citizens, particularly well-to-do personalities, to lend helping hands to those who do not have, emphasizing, “those who have the means must help those who don’t have.”
President Weah urged the residents of Gibraltar to make maximum use of the paved-road leading to the community, and to ensure it is clean all of the time.
