Pres. Weah Congratulates President Elect, "Lula"
Tanger, Morocco –His Excellency, President George Manneh Weah has congratulated the newly elected President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, following his victory in Sunday's Presidential run-off election.
The Liberian Leader said he is deeply moved by the remarkable story of the 77-yr-old politician.
"Lula", as he is affectionately called by his supporters, was given another opportunity to lead his country after he served his first two terms from 2003 to 2010. He will be sworn in office on January 1, 2023 and replace current President Jair Bolsonaro.
"The extraordinary comeback of President Lula Da Silva, after he was written off by adversaries and imprisoned shows his resilience and dedication to the cause of leading his people", President Weah has said.
He said the new Brazilian leader can count on Liberia's support as he steers the affairs of his country.
President Weah has expressed hope that the strong bilateral relationship subsisting between Liberia and Brazil will continue to grow from strength to strength.
